Here is an idea of what a typical day at Glenalbyn Montessori might look like.  We do, however, follow the interests of the children and are therefore flexible with our routines.

9.00 am - 9.30 am

We start with settling in time featuring puzzles and other toys as well as allocating jobs for the day on our job chart.

9.30 am – 10.10 am

We help the children choose familiar Montessori work from the shelves. There are also play activities available for the children to engage with. During this time the teacher will work with each child either individually or in small groups.

10.10 am – 10.30 am

Hand washing and preparation for snack time. This snack is provided for the children and consists of fresh fruit and vegetables with crackers or breadsticks.

10.30 - 11.30

Outdoor time. The children spend as much time as possible outdoors. We have a small natural space where the children spend time exploring and playing together. We have a mud kitchen, playhouse, digging area and planting area. In the warmer months the children do water play outdoors.

11.30 am – 11.50 am

Tidy up time / wash hands / set tables for lunch / hand out lunches / lunch time

11.50 am – 12.00 pm

Clean up time / book time

12.00 pm – 12.30 pm

Activity: Messy play, yoga, moving to music, music or art.

12.30 pm – 13.00 pm

Circletime: Discussion on the theme that we are currently working on, this incorporates the changing seasons and the Montessori Culture curriculum. We also follow an emerging curriculum, if a child/children show an interest in a specific topic we extend this learning experience for them. Circletime concludes with storytime.

13.00 pm

Home time.
